I recently assembled a new PC without a GPU, equipped with ten Intel i7 10700K processors. During a stress test on Cinebench, the core temperatures reached 100°C in seconds, while the socket temperatures remained as low as 55°C once the test ended. Afterward, the core temperature dropped back to 40°C almost immediately. This behavior occurred on Multiform testing, and when running on a single core, the average core temperature stayed at 55°C with socket temps holding steady at 30°C. Is this typical for the observed temperatures? I have auto boost enabled on the motherboard as well. Appreciate any guidance!

Intel can reach 105°C before it slows down, but it's best to keep it away from that. What cooling system do you have in place? (CPU cooler, case, fans)

The cooling performance seems adequate based on the rapid temperature drop, but it's normal for components to release heat quickly after testing.

Case and fans should function properly. Just confirming there wasn’t a blockage in the airflow. The tower cooler shouldn’t be reaching extreme temperatures, but it’s unclear what you’re dealing with. That’s a puzzling issue, though—you did mention using thermal paste, which is good. Still, it’s possible the paste wasn’t applied correctly or the cooler isn’t sealed tightly enough.

It's just a budget model right now, as shown in the JTC video. I might swap out the cooler and test it, but the air cooler might not handle the turbo boost well since it was running at 4.8GHz. If it doesn't work after the swap, maybe I should stop using it until I find a better one.

Synthetic tests push components beyond normal workloads, so keep an eye on temperatures during regular use. Upgrading to a better cooler is possible, but you probably won’t need it.

Thanks for your assistance. I haven’t experienced any changes yet, so I’ll check my temperature then. However, I’ll definitely look into a better cooling solution later. In the meantime, I’ll just lower the auto clock if it’s still running hot.
