Guys,
I really need some assistance since I'm stuck. I feel quite confident about assembling a PC, having done it four times before—my own and a few friends', but I'm less sure about the software or BIOS side. Here’s the info I have, hoping it helps someone move forward and get everything running smoothly. Thanks to anyone who reads this.
I’m attempting to upgrade my BIOS for my motherboard, as per an article I found. It mentions that a B350 motherboard from the 1000 series can be upgraded to the 5000 series CPU (essentially moving from a 2017 PC to a 2022 one). That said, I’m facing difficulties with the update process. When trying to change my BIOS, it keeps showing an error like “invalid image.”
Below is the BIOS section for my motherboard. I’m still using F8, but I was supposed to switch to F52m or F52h, yet neither worked. I read that I should first go to F31 before updating to F40, then F52m or F52h. This sequence is confusing, and unfortunately, it didn’t complete successfully for me.
Here’s what I’m aiming for with my PC (all upgrades are already purchased and at home):
Motherboard –
Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 (AMD Ryzen AM4/B350)
CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 1600
GPU – Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050
AMD RX 6650 XT
RAM – G.Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4, 16 GB
Power Supply – EVGA 500W
EVGA 850W
HDD – WD Blue 1TB
SSD – Samsung 2 TB

I would modify the AMD driver as indicated in F30, followed by an update to F30. Check for stability. Next, proceed to F31. Then move to F40. You should be able to reach F52h. Test stability with your existing 1600. After that, interchange the CPUs. Confirm stability again. Finally, replace your power supply and verify stability. Then swap your graphics card. ONE CHANGE AT A TIME.

I know this is an older post, but I have the same exact motherboard you do and I am having a little bit of issues with it myself, saw your post and I feel I know the answer to this, but this post being over a year old, I am sure you have fixed it, but in order to update your BIOS you will need to install the EC FW Update Tool to B19.0606.1 or later version. You can find that under the Utility section on the page you linked for the mobo. Once you have that installed, then you can update your BIOS.
I hope you have been able to get this all sorted out a long time ago though
