You're looking for guidance on setting up boot mode on your new ASUS motherboard. It sounds like you're trying to switch from the default BIOS setup to using your USB installation of Ubuntu. Let me know if you'd like step-by-step instructions or tips on configuring the UEFI settings.

It seems it's likely a Z87 board. At boot priority, you can choose your USB drive to start it or go to Advanced Mode (F7) and adjust the boot priority in the Boot category.

As mentioned by mgsstar, simply move your USB to the left position so it appears first.

Open Advanced Settings, navigate to the Boot section and search for Boot Override. Find the USB option and select it.

very old but added a link which works for me disable secure boot, it isn't possible on that old asus mother board, but here is how it works by means of 'clear secure boot keys' https://www.qualityology.com/tech/disabl...cure-boot/ which means u'd not have dual boot in particular for windows. disabling secure boot it turns out lets you boot any linux iso images written to usb flash sticks (e.g. Ubuntu etc) to fix that after installation u'd need to try that 'install default secure boot keys' which disable booting usb sticks again. never attempted 'install default secure boot keys' , so just be wary that you may be 'locked out of windows'
