Check if the gateway provides a WiFi signal and look for any instructions or documentation about accessing its password.

Password placement should occur on a label placed somewhere on the device, perhaps near the bottom. This gateway could be adjustable via the Xfinity website as well—though I’m certain one of their options provides that feature. As I mentioned before, I don’t rely on their gear. I own a regular cable modem linked to a router. Another choice is contacting them directly; they can remotely access the gateway and modify settings. A third alternative is using an Apple Router, which would work by switching it into bridge mode. This essentially turns the gateway into a standard modem, allowing the Apple Router to manage public IP and routing. The main challenge is hoping someone on the phone understands what bridge mode does. Xfinity doesn’t employ the most skilled staff.
