Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out if I made a mistake switching from managed to unmanaged internet. I’m located in the UK and needed a Dedicated Internet Access or Leased Line for my home or small office. After about 15Mbps connection, I decided to go with TalkTalk Business and Openreach installation. It took roughly ten weeks—from laying new cables to setting up their equipment—and finally it went live. But now it won’t work properly. I connected the Adva FSP 150-GE102Pro to my router (Asus GT AXE-11000) using the static IP they gave me: 62.xx.xxx.xxx/30 and 255.255.255.252. Could there be something missing? Any advice on getting this working would be super helpful! Thanks, Gareth.

The final digits of the IP address are likely the subnet information, not the one for your router. They should also have provided the gateway IP.

IP is 62.xx.xxx.229 in WAN settings. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.252, and the default gateway is also 255.255.255.252. I believe the /30 subnet matches what you entered. I’m not very familiar with networking, so maybe I overestimated the savings!

I've also tried configuring the Default Gateway to 62.xx.xxx.xxx. They confirmed it's functional when I reached out. Currently, my DNS settings are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Have you tested using the router at 231 and the gateway at 230? I expected the Adva FSP 150-GE102Pro to be linked to 230. Also, do you think a VLAN isn't necessary?

If they confirmed the .230 is functional, your IP will be linked to .229 as the gateway. Address: 62.xx.xxx.230. Mask: 255.255.255.252. Default gateway: 62.xx.xxx.229. .231 would remain unassigned.

Subnet details provided: first IP defines the network, second is the gateway, third is the routers' WAN IP, and the fourth is the broadcast address.

Thank you for your message. It seems the solutions you tried didn't resolve the issue. Have you considered other possibilities or steps that might have been overlooked?

Consider swapping the gateway and IP address. Using .229 as the IP and .230 as the gateway could be unusual, but worth trying.

I've attempted that, but I'm still not receiving anything. The ISP seems to insist it's limited to wires, yet I have all the necessary information!
