Your Alienware R4 laptop seems to be experiencing overheating issues, especially during gaming or editing. The cooling paste on the CPU might be the problem, as suggested by your Google search. The error code you mentioned is noted, and it appears the temperature never reaches 50%. The GPU temperature spikes before shutdown, and the screen displays a shutdown warning. Have others encountered similar symptoms?

The temperatures are comfortably within the expected range. Install Aida64 to optimize your CPU performance, track temperatures concurrently, and observe where thermal throttling begins. Your CPU should not exceed 100°C, while Dell probably limits it nearer to 90°C. Use Aida64 to view temperatures; avoid running both Aida64 and SpeedFan simultaneously. Share some screenshots of your load conditions. If your system freezes before reaching full capacity, the issue likely lies elsewhere causing instability.

I'm not sure if the issue is related to overheating. I haven't observed the system automatically shutting down due to high temperatures. It seems more likely a sudden power cut or crash. It might be some Dell software handling the termination. I recommend checking the Event Viewer by pressing Windows + R, opening Run, typing eventvwr.msc, and exploring the Windows Logs under System. Look for events around the time your laptop stopped. The IDs 1074,6006 and 6008 are typical shutdown codes. I suspect 1074 indicates a standard shutdown, but this will reveal which program triggered it.

I executed two tests, as mentioned. The second one indicates my computer shut down after 60 seconds. Here’s the link to the event log: https://imgur.com/a/p4L0UTV

I ran additional tests using AIDA separately. Each one works independently. The issue appears during stress testing on the GPU, suggesting a potential overheating problem or hardware fault. Here’s the screencap from that test.

Yes, I've cleared all the vents with air.

That was the initial action I took. In fact, it felt much more streamlined than I anticipated.

Consider removing the vent and inspecting the fan. Make sure it’s operating properly. Those units run quietly, so you might not realize they’re malfunctioning until it stops.

Completed the setup properly. Two years working as planned. Alienware performed its pre-launch hardware checks, including all fans, which passed without issues. I’m starting to suspect a faulty GPU.
