Need assistance with 10GB peer-to-peer connections?
In short, I've tried several methods to achieve 10gb performance between my main PC and server/NAS. This was mainly for testing rather than real speed gains, since my drives aren't likely the bottleneck. I purchased two Mnpa19-xtr NICs and a Cisco SFP-h10SFP-acu10m active cable, but the distance between the computers is only about 9 meters, which limits my options. I followed all the setup instructions, updated the Windows host file as recommended, and when testing the connection, it was surprisingly slow—around 1mb/s. Switching back to a standard gigabit network brought speeds back up to about 120mb/s, which is acceptable, but I still couldn't get the 10g cards to function properly. Anyone have any issues or tips? Also, could these cards work with active cables? Thanks for your help!
I checked the IP addresses and subnet masks for both PCs. Your NAS is running Windows.
