Yesterday (December 14th 2022) I made updates for my Windows, AMD Adrenaline, and Asus devices. The process ran smoothly for a short time. Then I added Asseto Corsa to the secondary drive I’m experiencing issues with—it’s a Crucial P5 from 2021. After installing the game, I powered off my laptop and turned it back on; the drive stopped showing up. I attempted to re-seed the drive, moved its position to the boot drive, upgraded to Windows 11 (which was difficult), and reinstalled drivers. I even transferred the drive to a friend’s laptop, which recognized it but was locked by a BitLocker key I don’t possess and isn’t linked to my Microsoft account. Still, the drive appeared in Windows and BIOS. I’ve tried everything possible and feel I’m missing something. I’m open to resetting the drive since I only have games and photos, hoping to keep my memories safe. UPDATE: After updating to Windows 11, swapping SSD positions resolved the issue—I’m glad it worked! I also backed up all my photos to an external drive just in case this signals a failing SSD.

No one configured BitLock on the device; the system handled the installation automatically.

Start a Linux Live system, ensuring BitLocker settings are turned off so you can safely store files elsewhere. Turn BitLocker off on your machine or set it to manual mode to avoid this issue later. Reinsert the drive and try unlocking manually via the BitLocker application. If that doesn’t work, remove the partition and reformat it.
