It seems the engine is struggling to load assets. Check the cache first, and if that fails, consider transferring the game to another drive.

Many are discussing limited RAM, but 16GB and 4GB of VRAM on my 980 seem adequate.

Consider trying different configurations, like what others suggested. I went back and forth through the settings to see if that helped. Good luck!
