Need assistance picking the right DDR5 64GB RAM?
Hello everyone, I’m planning to assemble a new PC in the near future and would appreciate your advice on selecting RAM. Here are my current specifications:
RTX 5090 MSI GAMING X TRIO
AMD 9950X3D
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB (could upgrade to the 420 model if needed)
Corsair HX1200
Corsair MP700 PRO SSD 4TB M.2
MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI
For RAM, I’ve narrowed it down to a few options, which are:
1) Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 6000 CAS Latency (CL): 30-36-36-76
(CMH64GX5M2B6000Z30)
2) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64GB DDR5 6000 CAS Latency (CL): 30-36-36-96
(F5-6000J3036G32GX2-TZ5NRW)
3) Adata Lancer RGB 64GB DDR5 6000 CAS Latency: 30
(Other timings weren’t found)
4) Adata XPG Lancer Blade 64GB DDR5 6000 CAS Latency: 30
(Other timings unavailable)
5) Kingston FURY Beast 64GB DDR5 6000 CAS Latency (CL): 30-36-36
(KF560C30BBEK2-64)
Overall, most recommendations suggest a sweet spot around 6000 MHz with 28/30 CL for AM5. A few suggest 6400 MHz at 30/32 CL. I’m focusing on the 6000 MHz 30 CL models.
My questions are:
a) Are the later timings really not important, or do they have a big impact?
b) Do you know if some kits don’t include thermal pads on the ICs? Would that be a problem? How can I confirm if a model has them?
c) Should I consider 6400-CL32 or is 6000-CL30 the best balance of speed and reliability?
d) Any other suggestions or advice? If you have specific RAM picks, my budget is between 300-350 euros (preferably 200-280 euros).
I’m mainly seeking performance, stability, and reliability, with a strong emphasis on stability. I won’t attempt to overclock and will only enable AMD EXPO. I’ll leave the RAM after that.
The sweet sot is DDR5-6000MHz because it offers a good price. You might also consider DDR5-6600MHz dual channel kits if you need lower latencies without paying a significant premium.
a) It shouldn’t affect you if you won’t be adjusting the settings.
b) Most RAM kits with heat spreaders include a thermal pad between the IC and the spreader.
c) A tighter timed DDR5-6400MHz would be beneficial to seek out.
d) Where are you from? Which site do you prefer for buying?
I should mention I’m focused on speed, stability, and reliability, but I’m not aiming to push every frame or overclock my RAM. I will ONLY...

They probably won’t matter if you’re not planning to adjust settings.

Either option works, especially if you’re aiming for faster speeds. A tighter DDR5-6400MHz would be beneficial if you want better timing.
Where are you located? Which store do you prefer buying from?
I need to mention that I’m focused on speed, stability, and reliability, but stability and reliability come first. I won’t try to squeeze every frame out or overclock; I’ll just enable AMD EXPO only and leave the RAM untouched afterward.
So in short, just pick any kit available with AMD’s E.X.P.O branding, staying within DDR5-6000MHz and DDR5-6600MHz ranges and tight latencies, without breaking the bank. Most RAMs come with a lifetime warranty, which aligns with the thermal pad consideration.
Thank you for your response and guidance! I plan to check RAM models around 6400-6600mhz with CL32 or lower and compare their prices to those at 6000mhz. I am based in Greece and have limited choices from various companies, mainly Corsair, Kingston, Adata, g.skill, Patriot, and a few teamgroup brands. From your advice, it seems the key is to find a kit that supports 6000-6600mhz, has 28-32CL, and includes AMD EXPO, which should work well long-term after enabling it in the BIOS.
When searching for every detail, pay attention to all the times.
