Need assistance! No posts after the RAM overclock!
Yesterday night I finished putting together my computer. It functioned properly at 2133 mhz. Then I attempted 2933 mhz (the limit for Ryzen 7 2700x). Next we tried 3200 mhz, but it stopped responding. I can’t even get it to boot into BIOS.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
GPU: RTX 2070
Motherboard: ASUS TUF B450 Gaming
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX
SSD: 970 EVO 512GB
Case: Rosewill Thor V2
My friend and I experimented with:
- Removing the CMOS battery for 10 seconds
- Installing my friend’s two RAM sticks
- Resetting the RTC short circuit
- Using just one memory stick
- Reconnecting all cables, then disconnecting and reconnecting
- Disconnecting and reconnecting the CPU
- Running my friend’s GPU
(Any mix of these steps)
I think the BIOS reset didn’t resolve the issue. We tried my RAM on his machine and it worked. If you notice anything missing, let me know how to proceed.
How long did you keep taking out the CMOS battery? While connecting the pins might do the same job, it seems you took it out for about 10 seconds... or roughly ten minutes? That matches what I understood.
That's exactly what I understand, although I'm not completely certain.
