Hey there, I'm working on assembling a PC using used components. It powers on but doesn't boot properly, even when trying BIOS settings. Here are the details: CPU options include i5-6400, i5-6500T, and i5-6600 MB (MSi B150M Bazooka & AsRock H110M-HDV RAM: Kingston KVR21N15S8/4 x2, 8GB DDR4-2133). The GPU is an Asus GTX1660 Super with 6GB RAM. The hard drive is a 500GB Seagate, and the CPU cooler is an Intel stock model. I've checked every CPU and RAM combo, but nothing works. The MSi MB shows EzDebug LEDs indicating CPU errors for all processors. It seems one or both motherboards might be faulty. Anyone have ideas or fixes I could try? I've been stuck on this for over six months and want to resolve it quickly without wasting more money on parts.
Oof, fixing secondhand components is challenging without a reliable baseline configuration. Was this the only power supply you've checked? Based on the support list, it seems unlikely they recommend it. The i5-6400 was among the early Skylake chips, so the original BIOS should still work.
Hey, I haven't tested a single stick of RAM yet. The EzDebug lights on the MSI board didn't show any RAM issues—just CPU problems for all three. I've checked every CPU with each board too.
The CPU manages the RAM, making it worth checking occasionally. Sometimes faulty RAM causes a CPU indicator to activate; I've noticed this a couple of times.
Certainly, if all else fails with three CPUs across two boards, the issue likely lies with the RAM.
