Hi, your CPU upgrade to an i7 9700K seems fine, but you're noticing a rapid temperature rise when idle. You suspect issues like a faulty cooler setup, poor connection, or improper thermal paste application. Despite double-checking everything and trying various fixes—reinstalling BIOS, rearranging motherboard pins, and even using ICUE software that shows fans and pump running—no problem is being resolved. Since you rely heavily on your PC for work, it’s urgent to identify the root cause. A broken AIO cooler could be a factor, but other components might also be at fault. Let me know if you want more targeted troubleshooting steps.
Do you have the stock cooler available, or a different compatible air cooler? Try installing one and observe if the problem resolves. If it does, your AIO appears to be defective. If not, we'll continue investigating further.
unfortunately i lack a stock cooler. i attempted to start with my old i5 8400, which had no problems and was in good shape, and also tried it at high temperatures while idle. this suggests the problem isn’t the new processor, possibly related to the ai or motherboard. i hope it’s not the motherboard since i’d need to look for one online as my current setup doesn’t have an lga1151 socket. i’m open to buying a new ai but want to confirm the issue first.
Check if it's covered under the warranty and consider exchanging it for a replacement.
