Hey there! I’m reaching out for some guidance. I recently switched from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 5 5600, and my motherboard is an MSI B450M Mortar Max. I thought it would work since I updated the BIOS in Advanced, which should have been a year ago now. When I opened the case, the CPU indicator was showing up but not displaying anything on the screen. I’m worried this might be a compatibility issue, so I wasn’t sure if I messed up the BIOS settings. I just wanted to double-check before making any changes. If you can help confirm whether it’s compatible or if another update is needed, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks a lot!

It looks capable and your background is solid. Occasionally you might encounter odd moments. Even when competent, things can fail sometimes. It’s rare but possible. Try these alternatives:
- Update to the latest BIOS – yours is fine but could be damaged.
- Clear CMOS and reinstall RAM after replacing the CPU.
- Check for bent or broken pins – precision matters!
- Allow about 5 minutes after powering on with the new CPU – memory testing may take time.

The compatibility list indicates support for 5600 from models 7B89v2F and 7B89v2J, but excludes the agesa update (CPU microcode). It’s recommended to create a USB drive with 7B89v2F and use the provided BIOS flash guide at the link. Flash the motherboard before installing the new CPU. If the process doesn’t complete, try using the BIOS flash button as shown. Once operational, you can upgrade to newer versions. 7B89v2K and 7B89v2L are also listed.

I'll look into the additional details if everything checks out, and I'm hoping there aren't any significant issues.
