CPU model: i5 6600K OC 4.4, 1.3 core voltage (original was 3.5), motherboard: MSI Z270 gaming plus (pins bent during maintenance but fixed). GPU: MSI GTX 1060 with 6GB memory at 2666MHz (XMP enabled). Performance is near full load while playing VALORANT, causing lag and making it hard to chat or hear others. I think the GPU might be limiting the CPU performance. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated. Additional details are welcome if needed.
Opposite scenario... CPU is limiting the GPU performance. Review the GPU utilization rate to ensure accuracy. Assuming the pin damage repair was correct, consider slightly boosting graphics settings to redirect more processing power to the GPU and observe the results. It may seem unusual, but it can sometimes succeed. Could you check Task Manager to confirm the game is utilizing full CPU capacity and not another application? EDIT: I didn’t explicitly state that the 100% usage was CPU, so I inferred from the rest of your message. Please clarify if that’s accurate.
Even with minor adjustments to the video settings, the link remains active.
Changing the video settings results in lower frames per second compared to what I currently have.
It's definitely a CPU limitation. When the GPU isn't being fully used—like when only 45% is active—the performance can improve by shifting more tasks to the GPU through advanced graphics options. That's why I recommended it, though in Valorant this might not be as impactful.
Approximately 250 drops to 110 in some cases 16:9 1920x1080 resolution. However, the problem is lagging in Discord and people aren't responding well either.
