I recently sold my old PC to my brother-in-law. Due to being too busy, I didn’t reinstall Windows myself before he arrived. I left instructions for a friend to handle the setup. When he began, he wanted to turn it off, so I let him do the setup instead. After turning it on, the screen displayed setup options, a 15-second timer, and then shut down. I thought the installation failed, so I tried booting from USB again. The issue now is it won’t start on its own and I can’t access the BIOS. Only the BIOS flash utility (alt + f2) works, and other options do nothing, causing the computer to power off after 15 seconds. I’ve tested different USB ports, cleared CMOS by removing the battery for a minute, switched to a PS/2 keyboard, and even unplugged the USB—nothing worked. I’ve attached a picture of the post screen. I’m planning to return tomorrow to try fixing it, and any advice is welcome. Motherboard Model: ASUS M5A78L/USB3. Thanks, Slaz.

Consider pausing the CMOS battery for a while longer and reset the BIOS by briefly connecting the CMOS pins together. It may be beneficial to eliminate all internal headers as well, leaving only the power switch intact.

The system reports an USB overcurrent alert. It seems this issue only occurred after your "friend" interacted with it.
