I recently purchased this new RAM module—DDR3 SK Hynix 8GB at 12800 MHz. However, it isn’t compatible with my motherboard (H18 with i3 4150). It doesn’t show up even on single or dual channel configurations, unlike my previous 4GB module (10600). When I requested a replacement, the seller mentioned that my motherboard is built-up and doesn’t support “black coloured” RAM. Apologies for any confusion in the translation. I’m not motivated to troubleshoot all the issues myself.
The case is settled—it's a RAM issue. I have two, one works perfectly while the other doesn’t. This post came about because my other RAM hasn’t arrived yet. I reached out to the shop, and they said they’ll replace the faulty one. Still, I’m wondering if motherboards are really selective when picking RAM.
In certain situations, this could be because of a vendor lockout or a mismatched profile. If your ready-made version includes a memory QVL, using it will save you a lot of time.
