Hey there, I'm considering purchasing two 2x32GB G.Skill Ripjaw 3600 modules at $340US each. I'm wondering if it's better to buy now or wait for a drop in prices. Remember when they were about $100 cheaper four months ago? It's hard to say if the market will stay stable or if prices might go up again. Thanks for your help!
These parts typically cost between 150 to 200 USD. DDR4 prices rose slightly, about 20 USD, but didn’t hit 340. It seems a third-party seller is likely trying to profit quickly.
Prices listed on Newegg and Amazon might reflect the cost per GB at $5. Used to be around $4.3 each. Those figures suggest I could get 64GB if I bought two units. Research shows prices have changed a lot because of a supply shortage that’s expected to continue due to strong demand.
64 GB of RAM... for $200? Two 32 GB modules instead of two 16 GB ones. Under typical conditions, two 8 GB at 1600 MHz would cost around $75, two 16 GB at about $150-$180, and two 32 GB at roughly $300-$400. I believe those rates are reasonable, though not the best. Two 32 GB modules at 3600 MHz CL16 usually cost around $200-275.
