Need advice on selecting a GPU for a second PC?
Well guys hi,
I'm a bit stuck here and might need some help from you all.
Recently, I've been upgrading my PC, and I just noticed I'm almost ready for a second one.
The only remaining part is the GPU, and my main concern is whether to choose an RTX 4060 with 8GB, an RTX 3060 with 12GB, or another AMD equivalent with more VRAM.
To be honest, I've never used an AMD GPU before, and I'm a bit unsure about it. In all my life, I've heard about driver problems, crashes, and stutters.
My gaming plans are focused on 1080p, and I want to ensure the chosen GPU can handle it for at least three years.
Thanks.

include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
Regarding drives, Nvidia's been having them as well.

Thank you.
It seems either way will work fine. If you had a Ryzen 5600, you might want to think about an Intel arc b570 or b580 since they’re quite affordable. I’ve been testing an arc b580 in my PC over the past few weeks and it’s been a solid experience. You could also check out some videos; for instance, a b570 is often available for around $200. Between the 4060 and 3060, I find the extra VRAM appealing, though you might get more features with the 4060. In the USA, the 3060 can sometimes be found used for less than $200.
I heard about the new Arc GPU releases, but I haven’t seen them in action. The price here is 50$ more than the Rtx 4060. I’m considering the added VRAM as a future-proof option, but I’m unsure if the features of the 4060 are more valuable than the extra VRAM in the 3060. Using the 3060’s 12 Gb is about 250$, while the 4060 ranges from 270-280$.
I believe using Intel arc cards might result in a slight performance drop. I’m fine with the b580, though. It seems to perform better than the 3060 and is similar to the 4060. You might also consider the b570, which offers 10gb of VRAM and is quite comparable to the 3060. From what I’ve noticed, the Intel drivers have gotten better. Probably not as impressive as Nvidia, but if you manage to find a new card for the price of an older one… The past few weeks have been my initial exposure to Intel GPUs, and so far, given the cost, I’m not complaining much.
If you can use a 5050 or invest in a more expensive 50x series, choose nVidia. This gives you some confidence. I believe not having an additional 4GB of VRAM will not suddenly make your system unusable in a few years.
The intel GPU’s is a fresh suggestion for me, hadn’t thought about it before. I found the b580 around $340 used and the b570 at the same price but new. I’ll look into benchmark videos and tests for the Arc, my main concern should be the driver stability, but if they’re improving, it could be a solid GPU choice. Another option I haven’t looked at yet. The price range for the 5050 new model is near the 5060 used, costing about $75 more than the 5060. Is it worth it?
