I guess it’s not a huge issue. My gaming stats are still well above what I require. But I had to get a new motherboard. The previous one lacked sufficient USB ports, and most were USB 2.0—just not ideal for me. With 32GB of DDR4 at 3200MHz, my gaming sessions remain top-notch. I can upgrade the RAM whenever I want or wait for DDR5 to arrive. Maybe I’ll consider 32GB of 4400MHz RAM next month if I feel like it. I really appreciate how simple it is to swap out RAM compared to replacing a whole motherboard or CPU.
Sorry for the delayed reply, Blake. With a 2080ti... I’d like to hope your gaming performance doesn’t depend heavily on system memory while your GPU handles most of the workload. For users with lower-end cards, high memory performance is crucial—especially with 4GB VGA cards like mine. Generally, MSI boards such as the Apex are popular among top-tier systems. Do you really need 32GB? I’d prefer 16GB sticks, but if you’re heavily using apps or streaming, I understand the necessity. My 8700K reaches up to 4300MHz with stability. This board is a Maximus Hero, not an Apex, which is preferred for extreme memory clocking. While I see many competitive setups at 4000MHz Cas12-12-12 or lower on high-voltage boards, I won’t share all the specs here. This image comes from a teammate of mine—thanks to Shadey Reaper (pro warp9-systems) and HWBot for the visual input. It’s competition-level hardware, definitely achievable. Not a full recommendation, just some insights. Speed is key; find the right combinations.
