It shouldn’t be that costly. The price here is about £1700 in the UK, roughly £200 less than the list price on the apples site—I don’t know your location, but you might check other retailers besides just apple.com. There could also be new year sales. It should last more than two years; I used an Intel MBP 16 for three years and only changed it to get a 14” Pro model. I found the Intel-powered Mac loud, it was hot, loud, and the 16” version was bulky. The good battery on the M1 14” was replaced by the much better battery in the new 14” and 16” models. It wasn’t broken or slow, but these newer sizes are significantly superior to the old Intel ones.

If you need something with a USB dongle featuring A ports and Ethernet, I’d recommend it. The MBP 14 also supports MagSafe charging, has HDMI output, and includes an SD card slot.

You won’t purchase it through the internet because it isn’t available for online sale.

Not familiar with mainland Europe, but if you could accept a non-Italian keyboard (is there a standard?), would it be possible to order from places like France or Denmark when it's more affordable and shipped directly without import or tax charges?
