I have focused my search but wanted to confirm if anyone noticed anything I overlooked or had prior experience with these laptops or brands.
Thanks in advance!

I believe the ASUS TUF stands out among these options. It offers the biggest power supply and weight, which typically translates to superior cooling and performance, especially for gaming. It features dual channel DDR5 and a 1080p display at 300hz. For lighter games, high frame rates will perform well. It still delivers sharp visuals with IPS panels and good color accuracy. The 8 core 16 thread configuration provides ample processing power overall.

Gigabyte comes in as the second option. It uses a H class Intel chip, just one generation behind, with DDR4 support. It has a smaller battery (54 Wh) and a compact power adapter, making it lighter than the ASUS but with a relatively large heatsink. It supports a 144hz 1080p display and offers 4P core 8E Core with 12 cores and 16 threads. It remains solid for gaming and multithreading tasks.

The HP Omen is not my top pick. While it might have a faster GPU, it also features a 1440p screen which can be challenging to run smoothly on.

Acer offers a reasonable choice for the price, though it involves several compromises. It uses an older AMD CPU and a weaker GPU compared to newer models. Despite this, it remains lighter and more compact. Just note that some images suggest a silver finish, but the listing indicates gold, so the actual color might differ.

I planned to purchase this last year during Black Friday, but my wife decided against it.
🙁
I was looking for a bigger screen. I struggle with visibility on a laptop when gaming, so a larger display would be ideal.

This option seems less appealing.

MSI Katana shares similarities with other models. The ASUS offers a 90Wh battery, while MSI has a 54Wh one, but both use a 240W power supply similar to ASUS, though the latter is heavier due to additional heatsinks. The CPU performance is stronger in this comparison. The i7-12700H provides 6P and 8E cores, offering a solid balance between ASUS and Gigabyte laptops.

I'm considering the Asus TUF model. The absence of a built-in mic on the MSI Katana is a concern since we'll be using it for family Zoom calls, etc.
The Acer mentioned is larger than expected.
Are there any other details I should be aware of or missing?

It seems the MSI has an integrated microphone. I plan to check them during Microcenter Saturday, but I'm still leaning more towards the ASUS TUF.

Is this the optimal choice? Comparing Asus specifications with an Intel 12th Gen CPU and considering the price of $200?

It mentions a thunderbolt 4 port, but whether it's worth $200 depends on other factors.
