Need advice on keeping your laptop CPU temps in the mid-80s (°C)? Let me know if you want tips or solutions.
Hey everyone, recently I received a warning from Core Temp about the CPU core reaching high temperatures. There was also another alert for core 3, but I only had time to check the second one before the overheat protection activated and my laptop shut down. After restarting, my temperatures settled in the 70s and 80s, now hovering around the high 50s to 60s. I’ll keep tracking them. CPU: Intel ® Core i5-8250U GPU: Intel® UHD Graphics 620 I’ll keep monitoring CPU temps and notify you of any changes.
Modern laptops are essentially laptops. You can try cleaning the fans and replacing the thermal paste. If you're unsure, open your laptop or take it to a technician for assistance. It's a good idea to check your system every 6 to 8 months, even if it's just a personal computer.
I powered on my laptop and noticed the temperatures spiking into the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I reduced the processor's maximum usage from full to 96%, and the temps have settled down now in the low 50s. I’ll keep watching them and adjust if needed—I think a thermal paste replacement might be necessary, as we haven’t changed it in about three to four years.
You experienced another shutdown due to CPU temperatures reaching the 70s. Do you have any suggestions about the possible cause or solutions to fix this?
I've had to disable the core temperature protection because my laptop keeps getting extremely hot, shutting it down to prevent overheating. While my temperatures have improved compared to before, they still spike into the 70s and 80s occasionally.
