Hello, for a new MSI laptop you should remove all pre-installed software before installing a fresh Windows. Whether you just uninstall or reformat depends on your preference. To obtain the Windows product key after reformatting, you’ll need to purchase it separately. Keep the recovery partition if you want to restore your system later, but be aware that using it with a new OS may void warranties.

On Windows 10 you can restore the system to a clean factory state using built-in utilities (similar to reinstalling Windows), but afterward you need to install drivers. The outcome depends on the amount of unnecessary software; some devices remove bloat quickly while others take longer to reinstall. I’ve experienced both approaches.

I'm concerned that removing the programs might not clear all remnants.

You can use tools such as CCleaner to remove outdated registry items. You should also review and delete any folders that remain after cleanup, especially if you notice anything missing. In most cases, this isn't a major concern unless you're trying to maximize every available storage space.

After pressing window10, locate the key and enter your product key details—information will appear there.

According to what I understand: If you used a Windows account, your key remains secure. After performing a "Windows factory reset" (distinct from an MSI factory reset), the system will prompt you to log in using your Windows account again.

Factory setup process. Uncertain if I should retrieve the key from the current window settings.
