I'm using a 10400 and someone in Discord mentioned it's not great for gaming. They're suggesting a CPU that fits 10th generation systems without needing a new motherboard.

Is it functioning as intended? If so, avoid paying attention to random Discord user #4206. This CPU is decent enough; as long as you're not pushing a 3080, it should perform well. Buying new or used right now isn't practical, but that doesn't mean it's unsuitable—it's a solid lower-end option. If it isn't meeting your requirements, then why isn't it? Upgrading would likely require a new motherboard.

Your gaming skills seem solid. Unless you frequently play high-end CPU games, your performance is likely satisfactory.

I don't understand what this person is discussing. A 10400 is more than adequate for gaming. It's not the absolute fastest, but it offered great value in 2020 and still works well today. Unless you're not satisfied with its performance, upgrading isn't necessary. Since it pairs with a 3060, the CPU likely isn't the bottleneck.
