Hello, good day.
I own this Nec LS150/N laptop that my sister gifted me. I'm planning to upgrade its CPU to improve its performance.
Here are the details about my laptop.
I searched online for compatible CPUs, but most results were just suggestions. I also looked in the manufacturer's manual, though I couldn't find anything useful, and some entries were in Chinese.
Thank you and have a great day ahead!

the cpu has bga soldering on the motherboard, making an upgrade generally not practical because of the expense.

My setup isn't working either... I can remove it just like on a regular desktop motherboard.

Ensure you have multiple motherboards from the same model. The available details suggest it uses a Celeron 2957u with BGA, but the CPU model isn't specified. This could help you identify the correct processor more efficiently.

In theory, the situation could be altered, but there are more factors involved. The motherboard BIOS and cooling system also play a role in supporting a different or improved CPU. It seems unlikely that this would be possible. Additionally, since the device is already ten years old, it’s likely you’d only find a similar vintage model. This would offer minimal advantages. Laptops are seldom upgraded beyond storage and RAM.

Other CPUs available in that socket can be found on the provided link. To ensure proper cooling, it's advisable to choose a model with a 35W power supply. Nonetheless, determining the BIOS compatibility for various CPUs is challenging, as many manufacturers reduce their BIOS support, which may affect the functionality of other compatible CPUs.
