Hey everyone, I’m a big supporter of saving data in chunks. Since my internal 4 TB drives are nearing capacity, I decided to set up a NAS for storing all my files. At the same time, I need a kitchen computer focused on web tasks—like checking recipes, making shopping lists, or streaming while cooking. Besides Windows (which isn’t my immediate plan), anyone know a NAS OS with a built-in web browser? Ideally, I’d like to use Plex too.

Opt for a typical Linux distribution and add the desired applications. Dedicated NAS systems usually lack a visual interface and are designed for remote control only.

This feature hasn't been introduced yet. Previously, the system didn't have a graphical interface; users accessed it through a web browser on a different device.

You could host a Linux desktop on a virtual machine inside TrueNAS, connecting basic hardware like a GPU and USB controller, but using a refurbished business laptop would be more practical for everyday tasks.
