My Windows 11 icons look like little boxes now instead of real pictures.
Hey friends, For some reason, my startup screen icons are all turned into little squares! I've heard this happens when using the Segoe font. What I tried: - I reinstalled the Segoe fonts from a different Windows 11 folder, but they're still the same. - I also removed the old version from AppData/Microsoft/Windows/Fonts hoping that might fix it. Could someone please help me out with this?
Welcome to our forums! If you were me, I would have done this first: made sure my system went back all the way before the problem started (that could be because of an OS update), backed up everything that matters, and then prepared for a fresh start by creating a new bootable USB with the Windows Media Creation Tools.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, I haven't done any system restore since I installed Windows! And if I had done one, I probably wouldn't need to back up because it's just a last resort plan. I think there must be another way to fix this problem without needing to backup the windows.
Go ahead and make a fresh Windows user account. Check out that link for more info on how to set it up safely. You can also try running DISM and SFC to fix any problems.
