I just acquired a new GTX 1050 Ti for my computer. My system consists of an i3-4150 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 450W power supply unit, and a 1TB hard drive. However, I'm experiencing frequent frame drops while playing games such as Apex Legends (typically 30-35 frames per second) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (often exceeding 45 fps, but plummeting to 15-20 fps during intense moments). These dips in performance continue even when I've reduced the graphics settings to medium or low. I’m considering upgrading my RAM to 8GB DDR3. Thank you for your assistance!

A straightforward and affordable improvement would involve increasing your memory to 8 gigabytes. Next, consider the processor—while its single-core performance is acceptable, modern games often benefit from multiple cores, and you currently possess only two with some virtualization support. Discovering a reasonably priced used 4th generation i5 processor could also be beneficial, but limit your expenditure to between $150 and $200, as spending beyond that amount would likely yield better results with a completely new system. Within a budget of under $300, you could acquire a Ryzen 3 quad-core processor, 8 gigabytes of memory, and a motherboard compatible with contemporary technology.

Your system enhancements are entirely contingent upon your financial resources. If you have less than $100, prioritize memory upgrades. Between $100 and $200, focus on both memory and a new processor. However, if you have over $200, it’s advisable to immediately invest in a full system replacement.

I understand, but what’s the most affordable improvement I could likely implement? (Sorry for my English.)

A straightforward and affordable improvement would involve increasing your memory to 8 gigabytes. Next, consider the i3 processor – its single-core performance is adequate, however modern games often benefit from multiple cores, and you currently possess only two with some virtualization support. A reasonably priced used fourth-generation i5 processor could also be beneficial, but limit your expenditure to between $150 and $200; beyond that price range, investing in a completely new computer would likely yield superior results. With less than $300, you could acquire a Ryzen 3 quad-core processor, 8 gigabytes of memory, and a motherboard compatible with contemporary technology.

Your upgrades are entirely dictated by your financial resources. If you have under $100, prioritize memory enhancements. Between $100 and $200, focus on upgrading both your memory and your central processing unit. If you have more than $200, it is advisable to immediately replace your entire system.

Thank you for your advice. I recently acquired a new 4GB DDR3 RAM module (bringing the total to 8GB DDR3), however, my games are still experiencing performance issues. My average in-game frames per second hover around 25-30, my CPU1 consistently reaches 100%, and the temperature of CPU1 is spiking at -100°C. RAM usage fluctuates between 3600 and 4000MB. Could this high CPU temperature and utilization percentage be the root cause of these problems? Furthermore, I’m currently operating on a limited budget—under $100.

Certainly, your central processing unit is likely the limiting factor in your system's capabilities. Acquiring a reasonably priced, older Intel i5 processor would be an excellent solution within your financial constraints.

Nevertheless... the temperature readings you’re observing are significantly inaccurate; if they truly reflect 100°C, you’re experiencing severe overheating. It's possible your system is functioning correctly, but the excessive heat generated by the CPU is severely impacting performance. Are you certain your processor fan is rotating? If not, a replacement cooling solution would be a very cost-effective upgrade. A product like the Hyper 212 can be obtained for approximately $30.

My computer has a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, an Intel G4560 processor, and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and it’s working very well. (I'm a newcomer – can we use informal language? haha)
