Hi, I upgraded to the latest RAM (Kingston HyperX Fury 2x8GB) with a claimed speed of 1866 MHz. However, BIOS and Windows display only 1067 MHz. That’s odd since my Dell motherboard supports up to 1333 MHz and 1600 MHz. Also, the BIOS doesn’t support XMP. Could you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
You can adjust the frequency manually or enable auto if needed. The same kit lacks native XMP support, but there are workarounds; however, I suggest keeping the current settings unless you specifically want changes.
Your motherboard is an original equipment manufacturer product, and its BIOS probably lacks XMP support since it was built for general use. You’ll need to manually set the frequency to 1600 if it doesn’t adjust automatically. It might be due to your CPU only supporting DDR3 800/1066 memory controllers as listed by Intel. Because the processor isn't unlocked, you can't push RAM speeds beyond what's built in. This likely explains why the system runs at a lower speed than intended.
