A few months back I set up a configuration with these details: CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G, Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M, RAM: two 16GB Crucial Ballistix modules at 3200MHz (BL16G32C16U4B), GPU: integrated processor running BIOS version 7C94v1B (released March 21, 2022). At the time, I had to flash the BIOS myself because the onboard indicator showed a CPU issue. Then I was experiencing crashes during startup or entering a boot loop whenever I tried to adjust the memory speed—even though the system kept the default 2666MHz. I’m not keen on overclocking; my goal is simply for the system to operate at the 3200MHz rated speed listed in the box, so I can get good value and take advantage of Ryzen’s higher memory clock benefits. Despite following the manufacturer’s recommendations, the issue persists. The crashes seem to appear as a black screen with flickering red squares. Two possibilities come to mind: either the system refuses to accept a faster memory speed due to some internal conflict with the integrated graphics (even though AMD doesn’t mention this), or the current MSI BIOS isn’t compatible with my RAM model. I suspect it might be a mismatch, but a friend suggested this could happen. I’ve experimented with other BIOS versions, but they didn’t resolve the problem. I’m considering updating to the newer non-beta BIOS 7C94v1C (released June 21, 2022), though I’m still unsure if the memory issue is related. If you’re struggling below that, there may be an underlying issue. First check if the RAM is installed in slots 2 and 4—these are optimized for a 2 DIMM setup and can cause strange behavior if swapped. A faulty BIOS could also play a role; some AM4 boards respond poorly to incorrect revisions, though this is uncommon. Thanks for the suggestions. I previously attempted 3000Mhz with XMP enabled, and I believe the RAM is installed in slots 2 and 4. I’ll probably update the BIOS to check the results.
I attempted the new BIOS, but it didn't resolve the issue. I suspect the performance boost might be a placebo effect. I decided to boot the system in Safe Mode, and surprisingly, it ran Windows normally at the XMP profile during this state. I'm not very familiar with Safe Mode, but I know it usually turns off certain software and features. From what I observed, the AMD Adrenaline program didn't start on boot and wouldn't even launch when I tried manually. My audio devices also failed to appear, which seems unlikely. Do you think the problem is caused by AMD Adrenaline? While running at the standard 2666MHZ speed, it operates without any issues.
After removing the Adrenaline software together with the driver, my system started up normally using the XMP profile. When I attempted to install only the graphics driver without the utilities, the crashes occurred, indicating the problem lies with the graphics driver. I’m unsure how to resolve this issue.
