You seem to have plenty of memory, but the system shows less than expected. You've checked the settings and restarted, yet the available RAM stays low. The hard drive space you mentioned might be the issue. Your friend’s advice about buying RAM is worth considering—compare prices and see if it’s a good deal.

Without a specific GPU, some memory is taken by the integrated graphics.

Which processor are you using? The GPU usage often depends on that setting.

Check one stick, observe if it gets reserved. If yes, replace it with the other one and test again.

The integrated GPU is utilizing the 512 MB of VRAM. With your existing graphics card, you can safely lower the VRAM usage to a modest level or turn off the built-in GPU (though you'd need to reset the CMOS if issues arise with the 650Ti). The offer from your friend is good value, but it might be excessive considering the performance of the 650Ti.

For laptops, it's best to turn off the integrated GPU as power-saving features often force a switch between the dedicated graphics card and the built-in one.
