I recently assembled a computer, and while everything is functioning correctly, my microphone isn't working. I’ve experimented with numerous 3.5mm headphones and microphones, but none are registering my voice; instead, I experience persistent “crackling” static that my companions cannot discern unless audio playback is active. I've attempted numerous driver updates, rollbacks, and installations, as well as modifying Windows 10 settings, to no avail. I plan to purchase a USB microphone to test, though I'd rather utilize my existing hardware if possible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Here’s a video illustrating the sound (with my speech): https://youtu.be/wFl6HVsMabU

Have you attempted to use the "Troubleshoot sound issues" feature in Windows 10?

I’ve attempted to use the Windows troubleshooting tool, but it didn't resolve the issue.

Which audio input device appears in Device Manager?

If you select a device in the "Device Manager > Sound > Recording" area, can you see disabled devices by checking "Show Disabled Devices"? This information is available at https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-en...-windows-7
