I have 100mbps download/upload speeds through fibre optic cables. My network is arranged so the main router (my ISP device) connects to another router via Ethernet in bridge mode, giving me more Ethernet ports. My Playstation 4 was linked to the second router, which is slower than the first. Recently I moved it so the PS4 now connects directly to the main router and achieves 500mbps speeds. My computer and other devices on the network haven’t changed, only the console. I’m curious about this, it seems unusual. Could there be an explanation? No, I didn’t upgrade my speed or try any hacks. I live in Brazil. UPDATE: When I plugged my PC straight into the main router, it got about 200mbps—still not enough for the PS4 but definitely better. Probably I’m having trouble measuring mbps correctly, oops!

It varies based on the reporting method, possibly exceeding the real internet speed. The ISP network might also provide more bandwidth. For instance, I've noticed speeds around 50 to 100mbps above the advertised rate. It could also simply be a reporting error.

It wasn't an issue with the reporting process. I installed a 74GB game in just over an hour and ten minutes. The download speed was 400mbps higher than expected, which isn't happening on my computer or other network devices. I plan to connect my device directly to the main router and update my post with these findings, but I suspect my ISP isn't providing sufficient bandwidth, especially in Brazil where ISPs are often unreliable and costly.

It seems odd. Extremely intriguing. Likely an issue with the ISP side.

74GB in 4200 seconds equals 140Mbps, which is far from 500Mbps. Although it exceeds 100Mbps, this might be caused by overprovisioning or incorrect measurement.

It seems there might be some confusion about the numbers. Your PS4 reports 500 Mbps, which is a standard speed for streaming or online playback. However, actual performance can vary based on your setup and usage. Thank you for sharing the details!
