SS3 has its quirks. The first three missions are a bit rough, especially the second one, but then things improve and it gets really challenging compared to earlier games. I've played through it four times, yet I keep coming back to The Second Encounter, which I think is the best overall. It's essentially a prequel to The First Encounter. The transition out of the city and dungeons marks the point when it truly becomes enjoyable.
