I just purchased a premium desktop computer, but I'm experiencing significantly low frame rates in games that my system is theoretically capable of running at 80 frames per second or higher. Games like Fortnite frequently drop to 30 fps, and occasionally even lower, while Doom (2016) consistently runs at only 40 fps despite being configured for ultra settings. Similarly, Apex Legends frequently crashes before I can even enter the lobby, and Doom Eternal also experiences crashes. I’ve thoroughly checked for malware using multiple detection programs, and I'm confident that my system is clean – there are no background applications running, and it’s free of any viruses or infections. My PC's cooling system is effective, maintaining temperatures below 65 degrees Celsius, and I’ve ruled out any hardware bottlenecks.

Here are my specifications:
RX 5700 XT Mech Oc
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8 (total 16GB, 3200MHz RAM)
Ryzen 5 3600
Asus TUF B450 Plus Gaming Motherboard
XLR8 500GB M.2 SSD
Barracuda 2TB HDD
Seasonic Focus 650W Gold 80+ PSU

I’m at a loss and need assistance!

Hello,

Several factors might be contributing to this issue. Could you describe the system’s resource consumption when it experiences such significant slowdown? Are any non-essential programs currently active?

I suggest performing an in-depth check with trusted antivirus and anti-malware programs, as this particular threat pattern is unprecedented. It has previously deceived many users who believed they were free of harmful software when, in reality, they were infected!

Best regards,
Trav

I experimented using MSI Afterburner, and my clock speeds and performance appeared to be satisfactory.
