Hey, I attempted undervolting based on many videos and articles that suggest it improves performance and lowers heat, but now I’m facing issues. In Fortnite, my FPS dropped from 80 in medium-high to 30 in very low, and the game keeps freezing. I changed the Core Voltage Offset to 0.050V using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, but even after reverting it back, the problem persists. Can anyone assist me?

I have an i5 6200U with a 2.30GHZ clock speed (4 CPUs), and I reduced the Core Voltage Offset by 0.050V. Even when I returned it to normal, the issue remains. Please help.

Undervolting might lower temperatures, but it won't enhance performance. I recommend clearing the CMOS and updating your BIOS. You might also consider a reset.

I recommend clearing the CMOS and updating your BIOS.
You could also attempt a reset.
I’m not very experienced with these ideas—treat me like a beginner.

Undervolting can reduce temperature, but by no means does it improve performance.
I suggest that you Clear CMOS, and update your BIOS.
You can also try a reset.
How, im not that good with these thinks, treat me like a beginner
OK, sorry. Remove the battery from the motherboard and put it back in after 10 seconds.
Also, go to BIOS (where you undervolted from) and press RESET.

Undervoltage and overclocking are similar concepts; for faster clock speeds, you require higher voltage to keep signals clear. If voltage is too low, the processor will generate excessive errors in calculations. However, excessively high voltage can lead to overheating and damage the device. Built-in internal protections exist to prevent this, so an undervoltage likely activated one of them. You should reset your BIOS to its default settings and retry.

Begin by changing your tuning utility. Next, turn off your computer. Then, check the manual for your motherboard and follow the bios or UEFI reset instructions. If you don’t have one, disconnect the PC from power, press the power button a few times, carefully remove the battery from the motherboard, wait 10 seconds, and reinsert it. Restart the PC to see if the problem is resolved.

However, the battery is located within the laptop, making it difficult to remove.

I have an acer laptop and my battery is built-in, i cant get it out + i undervolted using Intel XTU
