But does the Ethernet card connect via that medium? I’m not an expert in networks or wiring, but I understand that Cat5, Cat6, etc., vary because they serve different purposes.

Already reinstalled but continues to fail – it reports missing IP or default gateway on your PC.

I don't have access to your local system settings. Please check your Ethernet adapter configuration through your device's network settings or control panel.

It doesn't matter which cable you choose; 6 offers better speed, though the port will only utilize its capacity. I've experienced similar issues with newer models before.

I used an i7 3770 with the R7 240 and 12 GB RAM. It was functioning properly, but the socket pins are bent. I’m not very skilled at bending them, and my previous experience with sockets and CPUs taught me the hard way.

I also used an i3 2140 or similar with my R7 240 and 12GB RAM on another machine, but it didn’t work. My PC with a Core 2 Duo and 3GB RAM handled it fine, so why does my better setup seem to be working while mine doesn’t?
