My PC keeps crashing and I need help with those crash dumps.
Hey guys! I had a few crashes recently, mostly in games like Unity. After cleaning my Windows install and still having issues, I ran memtest and found some errors. I upgraded my 16GB of RAM to 32GB but the problems didn't go away. Now another game is crashing three times. I have two minidump files that look really hard to understand so could you please help me analyze them since I don't know what to do with them? Thanks a lot for any advice!
This computer has a Gigabyte motherboard called Aorus Master with Wi-Fi. It uses an AMD processor named Ryzen 7 3700X that has 8 cores and runs at 32 gigabytes of RAM. The graphics card is an RTX 3080.
I would first tell you to test your RAM. One of the reports shows a list entry got broken, which means something in memory is wrong; the other one fails because of a corrupted page table entry. It makes sense that bad RAM should be the first thing to check here - even though we could also blame a bad driver, we'll look at that later if your RAM looks fine. Download Memtest86 (it's free), use the imageUSB.exe tool from the download to make a bootable USB drive with Memtest86 on it (1GB is enough). Do this on a different computer because you can't fully trust yours right now. Then put that USB drive into your PC, and Memtest86 will start running as soon as it boots up. If no errors show up after four runs of the 13 tests in the free version, then restart Memtest86 and run another four iterations. Even one tiny bit error counts as a failure. Remember, this test can't prove your RAM is good but it will find most RAM problems. Let us know how that goes.
Hi ubuysa! Thank you for your reply! I actually ran memtest with my 16gb of RAM changed to 32, and the test showed no errors. Since there were no errors when I did this, is it a driver problem? Or could it be the power supply (PSU)? I would have been very surprised if it was just the PSU! Thanks so much for your help!!! EDIT: I didn't run memtest for 4 passes yet, so let me know after you do. Thanks a bunch! EDIT 2: I did run it for 4 passes and there were still no errors :/
