Hi, I usually play Triple A games and for most of them, I don't get a stable %100 GPU usage. For example, in Marvel's Spider-Man, in the city, I usually get a GPU usage around %75-90 and it sometimes drops to %60. However, in the same, in indoor areas, my GPU usage is always at %100. https://streamable.com/2h8mtj My system: CPU: I7 4790K GPU: GTX 1070 TI MOTHERBOARD: MSI GAMING 5 Z97 RAM: GSKILL 8X2 1600 MHZ DDR 3 RAM MONITOR: HP 27xq 144 mhz 1440p monitor
I don't use all my CPU power when I play Spider-Man, mostly because it hits about 80%. Why would the CPU need to go up to 100% just because there is a problem with the graphics card?
Sure enough, just one processor or thread gets you pretty much maxed out on frames per second. All the other stuff doesn't matter much at all.
That game features a huge, detailed outdoor world. To make it look good, the computer needs a lot of work done on its graphics card. Because your old, slow processor can't keep up with all that work, your GPU is standing by to send the heavy data back to you when needed.
I've put every core on the screen and did a quick clip with Spider-Man. Does this help me know if my CPU is slowing down my graphics card? Link: https://streamable.com/2h8mtj
I have a computer with an older processor that works faster than what the game tells me to use.
I know that for sure because I play this game myself. But it's important to realize that how well the game runs is only shown by what users see on screen, not just the specs listed in the description. You can already tell from my screenshots that I have an i7-8700K and a GTX 1080 SC, but even with those parts, I still get some lag or stutter when playing.
