My papers and my computer screen are shaking, and they go dark.
I have an Hp Omen Advantage Edition laptop. My documents keep turning completely black and the screen flickers very fast. It is connected to a second monitor and it has done this before too. There are no problems when I run games. I've tried resetting my laptop to factory settings and reinstalling windows 10 and 11 several times now. I can't open any of my files without them acting crazy for even a split second right now. If I just minimize the file and then reopen it, everything looks fine again, but a couple of seconds later it flickers back to black. Even though I took a picture, I cannot post that here yet. Laptop Specs: AMD Radeon RX 6600M AMD Ryzen 7 5000 Series SSD 1000 gigabytes RAM 16 gigabytes. Monitor: Lg Ultra Gear 27 inch It plays all modern games on Steam, Epic Games, Xbox Game Pass, and Ubisoft. Like Halo Infinite, Call of Duty Valhalla, SnowRunner, and Saints Row. The yellow folder icon you see on the desktop tool bar where you can access Desktop, Download, Documents, Pictures, Videos, This PC, etc...
Update your post with full laptop specs and which second monitor(s) you use? What if there are zero game problems but big headaches with documents? Which apps fail and what file types cause trouble? Where are all your files stored: on the laptop itself, from another computer, in Network Area Storage, or on an attached USB drive? Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to check system performance. Try both tools together, then use only one of them at a time. Watch closely when you open documents and see if the screen flickers. It might take some trial and error to find out what's wrong. Also look in Reliability History and Event Viewer to see if either tool catches any errors, warnings, or even just an informational message right before the screen flickers.
Take pictures or save screens here using imgur (www.imgur.com). Try switching off screen savers and power savers to see if that helps. Is Windows Search Indexer running? https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-search-indexer-guide/ Always back up your important data at least two times into different places before you start. Check that those backups can be read again.

In the picture, Color 1 (Black) looks like it's picked out. But what happens if you pick Color 2 instead? Go to Personalization and press WIN + I at the same time. Then go deeper into Personalization > Background. After that, look through the other options for end users that are available there too. No harm in checking under "Ease of Access" as well.

Here is how you move your files: just drag them from one place to another, like moving things in a suitcase. Check the Reliability History tab on the screen and make sure everything shows up clearly. Pick out two or three specific dates when things went wrong and black screens appeared. Grab some pictures of those bad moments and post them here using imgur so we can see it all.
