My newly built pc randomly crashes while idle
Dear All,
I hope you can assist me since I’m confused.
I purchased a PC about a month ago and it suddenly crashes when the DP (or HDMI cable) is connected to the GPU. But it works fine when plugged into the IGpu. The crashes follow this pattern:
When the PC is idle or browsing, a black screen appears (green for HDMI). This usually happens within 40 minutes but can occur in seconds after starting, followed by an automatic restart.
During gaming or stress tests, it never crashed.
Using IGpu doesn’t cause any issues.
I’ve searched Reddit and other forums for solutions, which led me to several steps:
- Installing drivers
- Cleaning AMD
- Reinstalling Windows twice and drivers again, using different versions
- Enabling core performance boost, disabling MPO
- Running MEMtest84, OCCT Heavenn to check for issues, but everything seems normal
However, a working PC still crashes constantly.
I’ve tried disabling IGpu (checked drivers with driver booster 11).
My system specs are around one month old:
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Boxed
ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WIFI
ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition 24GB GDDR6
Scythe Fuma 3
G.Skill Flare X5 F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5
Kingston KC3000 2TB
Corsair RM850x SHIFT ATX3.0
Fractal Design North - TG Clear Chalk White
BIOS version 1636
Occasionally, the GPU shows errors but rarely. The Event Viewer reports:
LSA package isn’t signed as expected. This might lead to issues with Credential Guard.
6155
Error 41 Kernel Power
The system restarted without a clean shutdown. This could result from the system becoming unresponsive, crashing, or losing power unexpectedly.
I suspect there may be a problem with the PSU, graphics card, or motherboard, but it’s difficult to pinpoint which one.
I don’t have an extra GPU either.
Please let me know if this gives you enough information. I don’t have a crash dump at the moment.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
BIOS version 1636

There are pending BIOS updates. I recommend flashing to the latest version.
If the issue relates to the power supply unit, consider upgrading to a higher wattage unit and power it with the new one. For driver problems, use DDU to remove GPU drivers (Intel, Nvidia, AMD) and reinstall them manually from the latest driver available on AMD's support site, using an elevated command—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
(Checked drivers with driver booster 11)
You may want to stop using that app, as it has been known to brick hardware by suggesting incorrect drivers. I suggest checking manufacturer websites for updates and manually uninstalling or reinstalling the latest drivers.
The update to version 2214 has been made, and the driver booster was removed. There seems to be a distinction between a full Windows installation and DDU. PSU power works well during stress tests and heavy gaming but may not suffice for idle performance. This could indicate an underlying power issue—perhaps it would be wise to return the device.
Your power source might be experiencing sag and surge issues. Consider using a backup if available.
