I own an MSI a88xm-e35 motherboard and have reached the stage where I need to OverClock my components. However, I'm stuck because I can't access advanced memory settings—I just can't click on them. I thought it might be due to my BIOS version, so I tried updating it, but when I downloaded the latest (5 years old) BIOS, it wouldn't work. It said my PC isn't compatible. Please help, I want to improve RAM latencies.

On FM2 it's not clear, but usually you need to place the BIOS-file (.u60) onto a USB drive. Start BIOS and open BIOSflash, then select the USB file there. EDIT: Check this out

Did you download the BIOS from this link?
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/A88XM-E35
Are you certain it matches the exact model? If not, updating the BIOS may indicate incompatibility.
