My laptop won't charge properly. I need help with this problem right now.
Hi everyone, I have an old Toshiba laptop that is acting up lately. Right now, when I plug it in to charge, a light turns on for about 10-20 seconds and then goes off. This happens even if the laptop is turned off or on. Basically, it only charges for a short time like 10-20 seconds before stopping completely. If I take out the charging pin and put it back in, it will charge again for just a few seconds but then stop too. However, if I remove the battery and unplug the power cord, it works fine on its own. So I don't think there is anything wrong with the cable or the plug itself... any ideas what could be going on?
It's hard to know if it's a bad battery or a loose charging port unless you test it with another one. Regular rechargeable cells like AA or AAA often look the same way once they get worn out and no longer hold a charge.
It looks like your battery is no longer working well. They can only charge so often. There isn't a fixed number for that; it depends on where you get them charged from. If you really need to use batteries, consider getting a new one. Usually, you should keep the device plugged into an outlet whenever possible and just use the battery when things run low.
No, that's not right. For a really long life, keeping a normal laptop battery between 20 and 80% is usually best. When you charge it to 100%, it puts too much stress on the battery, so letting it sit there for long periods will make it last less time. I have used at least three laptops now that have an option to automatically turn off charging once it hits 100%. That helps people who mostly use them plugged in.
