My internet stops working for a few seconds all of the sudden
My internet on my PC (wired) and my phone (wireless) cuts off all the time. When it happens, it lasts only about 5 to 20 seconds, but then it cuts back in again within a minute. Sometimes it just cuts for one or two seconds after cutting out. This mostly happens between noon and 10 am, which is strange. It has happened earlier too, but it's really bad during those hours. I don't know what could be causing this. Maybe it's the router, maybe it's the modem, or maybe something else entirely. Any help would mean a lot. Here is a video of me showing you exactly how it looks in Bloons TD 6: View: https://youtu.be/AxuslmOXAGU
You might see me posting this again, but a video doesn't actually help much. If some game shows packet loss, that usually isn't important unless it's just happening inside the game itself, which would be a problem with the game. What do you think?
I put up a video so you can see how fast the internet kicks back in when it breaks down. This isn't only about one specific game. It happens everywhere, including other games and all the stuff we connect to that network.
So what did you actually try, other than just running game programs? I'm going to post what I wrote in another thread here. It's probably something wrong with the connection coming into your house. If you call the ISP, they might blame everything else first. Better to test it yourself before you call them. Take a PC and plug it directly into the modem. Often you'll have to turn off and on again (power cycle) the modem, then plug in your computer after the modem starts up. Modems usually stick with the first device they find until they get turned off and back on. So they might only talk to your router until you restart them. Open a command prompt window and keep trying to ping 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1. This shows the ISP that you are losing packets. It's weird because it only happens during those hours. That makes it harder for them to test. You probably should call them then, or they'll go out and find no problem there. If they offer a technician to come over, ask them to come at that same time. At least some part of the day will see them working; it's much worse when they are only closed. Hard to say exactly what would be happening mostly because during the day, other people's traffic causes issues for you. Your internet connection in your house is likely shared with many neighbors. It's more common if people get home from work (before people used to work from home so much). Maybe it's weather or temperature related if it gets cold at night. In any case, you can't really fix this stuff easily. It probably isn't happening at all in your house, and just plugging directly into the modem will likely rule out most strange possibilities.
There could be many reasons for this happening. I think you should run a ping test in command prompt. I usually do this: ping www.google.com -t And check to see if ms=xxx appears (Look for triple digits and request timed outs to show your ISP). I wouldn't give up on the NIC, maybe try reinstalling it by opening device manager > network adapters > right click your adapter and click uninstall then restart your machine. Observe the issue above to see if it continues. Also, I'd suggest maybe trying an older driver or newer driver and install them both.
