I can easily browse the internet, stream youtube and netflix and download files at a relatively high speed but I get ridiculously high ping in every game reaching up to 20000ms. I've tried different wifi adapters, updating drivers and other methods but nothing has worked. It can also sometimes become painfully slow suddenly at any time of the day and even disconnect. No other PC in my house has this problem. Any ideas?

You neighbor might have gotten some new mesh gear and now blocking your internet signal. You won't reach much further unless you figure out if it's the router or something else entirely. Grabbing a long extension cord or just shifting the PC closer probably saves you hours of headache trying to fix this.

Have you tired this on ethernet. This is a very common problem on wifi. Youtube, netflix and almost any other internet traffic does not really care about ping times. They use buffers to hide any variation in the packet timing. Games can not use buffers because it will cause delays.

I never tested ethernet because I couldn't get a long enough wire to connect my computer. This started recently, about two months ago, when things worked fine on my wifi before.

Are you running OneDrive or some other tool behind the scenes? Are you actually turning on a VPN?

You neighbor might have gotten some new mesh gear and now your internet signal gets weak. You won't travel very far just by yourself until you figure out if the problem lies with the wifi or something else entirely. Trying to buy a long cable or moving the computer closer is probably the quickest way to save time fixing things.

There is no VPN. There is no OneDrive. There isn't anything else needed.

Please start a NEW thread for your particular situation. This one is 2 years old, and almost certainly not the exact same.
