My initial take on the Arkham Knight re-launch was quite positive.
So far I haven’t progressed too deep into the game, but I’ve adjusted all the options except film grain and motion blur. I’m not sure what others are experiencing—some mentioned problems—but I’m seeing promising results. I tried it in different scenarios: flying through Gotham, driving the Batmobile in and out of fights (with a lot of smoke from the handbrake), battling Batman with over ten enemies, just wandering around, and moving the mouse back and forth. Mostly I got between 60 and 90 frames per second, with only a few drops below 60 when doing certain actions like dodging in the Batmobile or using all the game’s features. Even at 60 FPS it felt smooth, and I didn’t notice any chugging or major drops. I limited my speed to 60 and tested again to see if performance stayed consistent. It was surprisingly stable and enjoyable, even though I was a bit nervous. Load times were fast and the logo screens could be skipped. I had to tweak some overlays to get the numbers showing, but the fps counter in Steam worked well. There’s also this annoying feature where you have to restart the game to apply settings—something I noticed recently. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t know enough about development to judge if it’s intentional. In short: I entered with a 2-hour Steam refund in mind, hoping for a good experience. What others think? Have your experiences been similar? Assuming you’re reading this after the relaunch, I’m planning to play more story mode tomorrow. It’s 5 a.m.—I’ll probably update this later. What do you all think? Have you had any issues? And if you did, what were they? TL;DR: Performance seems much improved compared to before. Some users still report problems, but I didn’t notice any in my tests.
