After four years of reliable service, my Asus B350-f Gaming motherboard stopped performing as expected... Maybe. A few weeks back I purchased a GTX 970 on eBay for a friend and tested it first to verify stability. Since then, I’ve experienced intermittent BSODs every 20 minutes to an hour, accompanied by error codes like "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA" or "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP." I initially assumed the problem was related to RAM, so I sent my RAM back to Corsair (Vengeance RGB Pro 3000mhz) via RMA, but it didn’t help. I then relocated the dimmers to slots 1 and 3, which resolved the instability, though now my PC is limited to a maximum of 2133MHz and there’s a yellow static LED on the motherboard. I’m uncertain about next steps. My 1700x has remained stable since installation, and I don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon—especially given the current market. Is the motherboard faulty, or are there other solutions to improve RAM speed? (I still have the fake dimm lighting kit, which is an 8x2GB unit; please don’t judge, it hasn’t affected stability as much as I thought).

I wouldn't judge it if it were just one color and not a rainbow mess. Though I've had this before, my RAM slots were a bit dusty so they stopped working. I fixed it by spraying 99% isopropyl alcohol with a spray nozzle, covering the slots in tissue and letting it sit for a day. You might also try soaking the CPU socket in alcohol and waiting, as I did. Just make sure you don't turn on your PC while using it. As long as you avoid using it with alcohol, it's safe. I realized I was skipping the CMOS battery removal, but my old boards still functioned—probably because they're just as reliable as the CPUs. Suggest taking the CMOS out for a cleaner process.

Consider restarting or re-flashing the BIOS. Should you also check the CPU connections?

BIOS is currently updated for several months, the CPU was replaced but results remain unchanged.
