My half of my memory is locked up for use.
Hey! I just moved to a new graphics card, the GTX 1080. I’m not sure if I had issues before but now I’m experiencing problems. No matter how many cards I install—2 or 4—I always see half reserved as hardware. I’ve checked the BIOS settings and unchecked maximum memory, but it still doesn’t work. They’re installed properly too. My setup includes: motherboard Asrock 970 Extreme3, CPU Amd FX-8350, eight-core RAM (8GB DDR3 1866MHz), and the GPU is the GTX 1080. I’ve updated the BIOS and am currently using two 8GB sticks. Could anyone help me with this?
This link suggests a workaround for Windows 10 using limited RAM. It may be effective depending on your system configuration.
Hardware Reserved Ram rarely launches on its own. Motherboards sometimes behave oddly. Try booting without a GPU, even if you can't start properly or see any updates—just run it once as a test. Replace the GPU and attempt to open Windows, then verify the reserved memory settings. As a workaround, go to BIOS, restore defaults, and reboot to reset everything. Finally, boot into Windows and troubleshoot further.
