I’m facing a problem where my GPU isn’t showing up in the device manager, which means I can’t use it. I recently assembled a new PC and transferred my SSDs and GPU from an old machine. My current setup has a 4080 Super with the ROG STRIX X870E-E Wi-Fi motherboard. I’ve used DDU and updated the BIOS, but I still can’t install drivers because NVIDIA isn’t detecting it. I’ve also scanned for hardware changes in Device Manager and checked for updates via Windows, though I’m not sure what to do next.

I just assembled a new computer and used my old SSDs and GPU from my previous machine.
You might have not reinstalled the operating system after moving it.
If that's the case, detach all drives except the one you want to install the OS on, then format it and reinstall the OS.

Are you seeing an image on your monitor when linked to your RTX 4080 Super?
What appears under Display Adapters in Device Manager?
Would you expect to see the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, even if Windows doesn’t detect or install an Nvidia driver?

Can I restore this using the Windows "reset this PC" option?

Is the power cable securely connected to the GPU? Some GPUs have an LED that lights up if the auxiliary power lead isn't properly attached.
Do the fans on the GPU briefly spin when the PC starts?
Have you checked all the GPU outputs (Display Port and HDMI)?
Would you like to try another monitor?
Can you test the GPU in your previous PC?
Are you using a Tier-A (high quality) ATX 3.1 compliant PSU with a rating of at least 850W (minimum), preferably 1000W, or even 1200W on a heavily overclocked system?

The power cable is securely connected, and no error lights up for auxiliary power. The GPU fans start spinning when powered on, and I’ve tested various ports. I’ve also tried connecting multiple monitors. Right now, I can’t test the GPU on the old PC. I have a 1000w power supply.

I made some changes to it, for now. The final attempt was to reposition the cord, though I wasn't completely confident it resolved the issue. It's possible the cord itself needed a different adjustment. Thanks for your help.

If you're extremely unlucky, this situation might occur with your GPU power cord. These 12VHPWR and 12V-2X6 cables often face issues. Be careful. It's best not to move the cord while the computer is running.
